What this Week #2

Welcome to a brand new week and the second edition of What this Week.

Usually, at the start of the month, I like to start reading a new book and I did just that last Monday. I started reading Friendaholic by Elizabeth Day, a nonfiction book about the significance and evolution of friendship. Day explores her own friendships and the importance of them in her life along with interviewing some of her own friends. It’s the type of narrative nonfiction I enjoy reading and so far, there have been some poignant insights into my own friendships {and faded friendships} from over the years. I’m hoping to finish this book later today and will post a more coherent review following that.

We’ve still been watching Ted Lasso and are on Season 2. It’s been great for me to re-watch this with my partner and share the laughs and tears. I’m also now on Season 2 of Marvellous Mrs Maisel and I’m finding it entertaining.

I have been listening to London Grammar’s If You Wait album, Karnivool’s Sound Awake, and Dead by Sunrise Out of Ashes. I recently discovered that Chester Bennington from Linkin Park did a side project called Dead by Sunrise. I miss Chester, and his voice was sublime!

This past week was properly getting back into a routine again. I’ve been mainly working but also caught a mid-week comedy show – The Racist Immigrants – which had some great laughs! I also had a lovely video chat with my friend who has moved to Melbourne and caught up for dinner with my friends C & S. On Friday, I had my hair done {just the regrowth} and also found out that I won first prize in a short story competition. The prize includes cash as well as publication in an anthology. It was really exciting to hear that!

That’s my week!
