Hello 2023

Happy New Year, y’all! Here we are, in 2023. It also happens to be the year I experience my final year in my thirties. As we enter the new year, I am slightly anxious because i had a good 2022 and while I would really like 2023 to be similar, I know life can throw curveballs. That said, it’s life in the end. We take the good with the not-so-good and the downright crappy, don’t we?

Like with the past few years, I began thinking early in December about a word, phrase or intention for 2023 to help me remember how I want to live my life. One word stood out more than others and it has become my intention for the year.

2023 is all about Finding Flow

Flow is the state of being engaged and absorbed in an activity or task and I am hoping this phrase will serve as a reminder to be present and engaged in all that I do including my work, writing, reading, relationships, training, and during my leisure time. I feel like it works well in moving on from slowing down last year to really focussing on flow. The other way I’d like it to serve as a reminder is about ‘going with the flow’ especially when my anxiety and mood issues threaten to take over. It’s a reminder to notice it and be mindful and observe these emotions without judging them and reacting to them.

I have broken down some more little intentions in important areas of my life but I’ve left that out of the blog for now.

Do you have a word, phrase or intention for year?

Do share!

No word of the year or intention for me, though guess I just want to build on some of the positives that started in 2022. Like you I know there can be curveballs so am nervous about thinking things are on track for me now, but I hope it’s the case.

Kate Mildenhall was talking about the phrase ‘Fuck it, how good is this?’ as a mantra for the year, and I quite liked that!

I have commitment issues so can never choose a word for the year but I love yours and think it’s a perfect pick for you. There were so many big positive changes for you in 2022 and I hope 2023 is even bigger and better and brings you abundant happiness! xx

I hope 2023 is a great year for you. I love your word. It could apply to so many areas of life. I haven’t chosen a word yet and am considering going wordless in 2023.

I like the sound of Flow Sanch, it seems a good word to focus on for all the reasons you’ve described. I’m using Explore as my WOTY and will see how I can explore various aspects of life. Happy New Year to you!

I like the sound of that… like others have pointed out it’s a word that could go in many directions… (see what I did there?) Happy new year…

I like the idea of focusing on finding flow. There’s a lot around that word and concept, you’re in for an interesting year. I was close to not choose a word of the year, but in the end the obvious one was in front of me, in my own blog description. It’s all about grit, challenging myself and working harder towards goals in fitness and music.

I like that a lot. I always think of Martin Seligman when I see the word flow. I wish you well. I reckon when change like this is happening, at times you can (me too) gently pull ourselves up if we notice going down rabbit holes from olden days and years of fear and worry.
Thank you so much for returning to Wednesday’s Words and Pics Link Up in 2023. I look forward to continuing the blogging community connection this year. May your year go well. Denyse.

Flow is such a beautiful word! It has been ages since I chose a word or a phrase for the year. I get obsessed with it and it makes me lose my piece of mind. Shameful, I know 🙁

So nice to be back here and see you, Sanch! This place continues to bright, happy and inspiring.

So nice to read you after ages, Sanch. Here’s wishing you a beautiful 2023. I have never done a word of the year but I do love your choice of flow. May you have a beautiful last year in the 30s.
