Gratitude

Weekly Gratitude 2021 46/52

Happy Sunday everyone. It’s been a weird week in Sydney. Spring seems to have lost the plot and it’s been rainy for a lot of the week and cold and windy this weekend. It was also my week back at work and despite being a busy one, I survived. While I was previously battling a lot of anxiety and the subsequent gut issues, the latter part of the week has started a sense of emptiness. The good thing is, I’m aware of it and I’m trying to refocus on things outside of me and my head. Anyhoo, without further ado, here are all the things I’m grateful for from 7th November to 13th November 2021:

An impromptu Sunday afternoon walk with a couple of friends and a beer afterwards

Speaking to my manager on Monday and getting the green light to cut down to four days a week for six months in the new year

Seeing my first in-person private client under my business name and they are coming back

A writing workshop on three evenings that reminded me again why it’s important for me to keep writing

Getting through the busy work week

Cuddles from Jellybean the dog

Good therapy session with my psychologist on Thursday

My cats managing to be equally annoying and cute

My gut issues settling down by mid-week

Quiet weekend, sitting with the discomfort

It’s been a weird week – busy with work and not much else. But the little things particularly around writing and animals and a supportive manager have been good.

How has your week been?

Do share!

I know what you mean about cats being annoying and cute only too well (wanting breakfast and a cuddle at 5am?). I moved to 4 days a week and love it.

They are a bit like that, aren’t they? I cannot wait for the 4 days!

Awww, the cats are adorable ?, and the dog too ?. Glad you were able to get the schedule you wanted (at least I’m assuming you wanted). What kind of writing do you do? What’s your “business”. Good luck with the new client, sounds promising.

Welcome here, Tena! Thank you – my cats are very spoilt and lead a good life. The dog is one I see occasionally at the gym but she’s great. I write short stories and I’m dabbling with memoir/personal essays. I am a psychologist by profession and been toying with gradually setting up my own practice. Thank you so much!

That sounds good to cut down on time at work. Happy to hear about your own business!
Cats certainly are equally cute and annoying, while very entertaining too.

Good for you on cutting down the work days if you need to. I also think I got the inspiration for the Yeahwrite super challenge – I really enjoyed it this weekend. So cheers!

That’s great news that you can cut down to 4 days a week next year. Hope this week goes well for you. Hopefully spring remembers where we live soon, it’s been freezing down here and we’ve had to put the fire back on. #lifethisweek

We’ve had dreadfully cold weather here too. It’s hard to take in winter but really hard to take when it’s almost summer. Four days a week sounds like a great idea

Congrats on your success with the first client, in the sense that they’re coming back. I’m so glad your manager has been so supportive too. Writing is awesome, so I’m glad you are motivated for that. Sorry to hear about the discomfort later in the week but I’m glad you were able to sit with it. Hope your upcoming week is at least as good as this one was. #LifeThisWeek

    Hi Sanch,

We’ve had some weird weather here in northern Calif. We had one 3-day period where it poured and poured. After three days, a big empty paint bucket I had left out in the yard was full to over flowing, which makes it something like 14 -16 inches in 3 days. So I had a few small lakes in the back yard.

I love your thanks for lists. Things like this help us maintain a right attitude and have a happier life.
Sorry to hear that you’re dealing with gut issues. Those can be torture and I hope you have a good doctor helping you understand what’s going on and getting you some treatment to help and maybe resolve.

I was thankful finally for getting a big story done and posted. At just below an hour to read, it’s the longest piece of fiction I’ve written for my story blog. This one is a Sci Fi, David v Goliath battle between two space ships with themes that include the speed of light, kinetic energy and other fun sciencey things. If you would like to spend an hour nerd-festing with me, here’s the link. I’d love to know what you think of it.

Gosh it’s hard to start a new business and manage all you are for that, along with being at the level you are with your current employer. Hope life starts to even itself out…weather wise is NOT helping, sorry!!

Thank you for linking up for Life This Week. Next week, I am sharing my self care stories for the last time in 2021. Where DID that year go?
Hope to see you then too, on or off prompt!
    Denyse.
