Weekly Gratitude 2021 42/52

Happy almost-end-of-the-weekend my lovely readers! Today’s weekly gratitude post is coming to you a bit later in the day because I had a spontaneous day in the city after initial plans to catch up with a friend for breakfast and coffee. But it was such a lovely day and I have no complaints even though I’m ready for bed and it’s not even eight p.m. This was our first week of more privileges for the fully vaccinated and there has been a lot to be grateful for despite a whole lot of anxiety and overwhelm that accompanied it. So without further ado, here are all the things I’m grateful for from 10th October to 16th October 2021:

Sunday morning watching a live stream of a gig from five years ago featuring a few of my favourite bands

Monday morning back at the gym – it was so good to be back!

Having a proper sit-down coffee at my favourite cafe

Drinks at the local pub a couple of times this week with two different friends

Wednesday morning cafe breakfast with a friend before work

Taking Thursday off work because I hit a massive wall of fatigue and anxiety

Friday evening dinner at my friend SSM’s place; I haven’t seen her since June and it was so lovely to connect in-person again

Saturday hike and lunch with my friend JR who I haven’t seen in person since the start of lockdown

Starting a new short story this week and finding the characters taking me on a journey

Listening to my body and anxiety on Saturday night and staying home and having an early night

It’s been a decent week with more freedoms and for that, I am so grateful. I know with this, comes the risk of catching Covid and I guess in some ways, that will be inevitable in the future. But for now, I want to enjoy the little things. I want to hug my friends. I want to laugh. I want to browse bookstores and wander through the streets. I want to see the joy in everyone’s faces. I am anxious about other life stuff but there is a place and time for that.

    It’d be so easy to hit that overdone wall with the changes being so big. But, you go to go to a bookshop, and that can only ever be good news 🙂

    I’m so pleased to hear you’ve been able to get out and be with people you haven’t seen for a while Sanch! It must be the best feeling. I managed to see 2 of my grandchildren (and my daughter) as they came out of lockdown after 9 weeks. It was so good to hug my grandchildren and spend time with them in person rather than through the computer. #lifethisweek

    I am not surprised about ‘hitting the wall’ because I reckon with all you have been doing, thinking about and in your work and personal life there has been so much happening. I thought beginning of everything opening up would be great and then I hesitated. I realised I quite liked some of the ways in which I had managed life during lockdown. I started to normalise it a bit more this week then realised I am physically tired. Getting out and about more is the reason…and I have not been near nature much either.

    Time to remedy this!
