Gratitude

Weekly Gratitude 2021 37/52

Happy Sunday, ya’ll! It’s pretty late in the evening but I’ve had a very relaxing weekend including three hours at the beach this morning soaking up the sun, reading and having quick dips in the ocean. After a busy work week, it’s exactly what I needed. We are into our twelfth week of lockdown here in Sydney but when the weather is warm, and you live near the beach, it’s easy to forget that even for a little bit, Without further ado, here are all the things I’m grateful for from 5th September to 11th September 2021:

Sunday walks in the neighbourhood and buying a freshly baked baguette

Monday walks by the harbour during lunch with a work friend

Lots of cat cuddles and one moment of a cat embarrassing me in front of my entire organisation. Thankfully, everyone found it funny though I did turn off my video after that!

Getting through delivering a presentation for our services staff

Receiving Sally Rooney’s latest book in the mail, a day after it was published

Receiving a lovely delivery of books from my local library

A roadmap out of lockdown for those who are fully vaccinated. Even though it’ll be at least a month away, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel

Week 37

Mid-week writing group

Good session with my psychologist uncovering certain things I was avoiding to look at

Sharing a vulnerable post on Instagram and getting some lovely responses on Friday. And also, a glorious sunrise on that day

Friday coffee and walk with Sammie and Teddy

Friday evening wind-down at the beach with a book and beer

Saturday afternoon at the beach in the sunshine for an hour

Finishing and loving Sally Rooney’s book Beautiful World, Where Are You on Saturday. It’s been a while since I’ve been captivated by a book and finished it so quickly!

So yes, it’s been a decent week even though the week has been so busy that I’ve barely had time for anything relaxing. But the weekend made up for it. I’m looking forward to a short week {I’ve taken Thursday and Friday off}.

How has your week been?

Do share!

    Hi Sanch.

You did have a lot to be thankful for this past week. What a great collection of stuff.
You spent a lot of time with good books too and what’s not to love about that?

I will especially applaud you for more than getting through that presentation.
I recall all to well how scared I was of my first presentations in a variety of settings and how rough they were.
After forcing myself into various roles where I was the teacher – I finally got to that sacred spot where I don’t mind and even enjoy public speaking, but wow – it was work to get there and so you deserve another glass of a good beer to celebrate your success.

I hope you get to do more of these and you too find that spot of public speaking comfort only to find that it brings all kinds of great dividends for your hard work.

    Blessings.

That is the most sensational sunrise. I have a ‘picnic’ this week with 2 friends – a quick work day lunch in a park. I’m mindful of crowds and I’m wary of this 70%. Seems a little idiotic, given the failure of the same in many other countries and the severely lacking state of our hospitals (in part due to staff shortages). So watching Denmark and trying to work out how best to manage it.
You are very lucky to have a beach in your 5kms. We have water but no beach! #Lifethisweek

That sunrise was sensational and I loved that you shared that insta post even if I didn’t get around to commenting to it online – my bad. It was great to see you as always and I’m so pleased that you got to go to the beach, I know it’s your happy place!

Good to read a ‘real person’ review of the Sally Rooney. Our copies, like everything else, is held up in Melbourne! Looks like you are having good weather.

Like I was saying on instagram, I can’t not live by the beach. I am so lucky I can see a sliver of ocean from my house and that I can live nearby. So mentally refreshing, even if I’m not an ocean swimmer.

Hours at the beach reading sounds heavenly! I love listening to the ocean waves and I’m always up for reading a good book.

The one thing this time in Covid has going for it is SPRING and getting outside more for you…and me too. I get to drive to Norah Head or Lakes Beach or one of the lake areas and take pics and I feel better for the outing.

I am grateful you are a good friend and that you are caring for yourself too.

Thank you for taking part in the 5th Birthday celebrations of Life This Week. Great to see friends who are bloggers linking up each week when they can. I appreciate each and every one of you. Next week, Mr W is back with Time Part Two. See you then if you have a post to share. Denyse.
