Gratitude

Weekly Gratitude 2021 24/52

Happy Sunday, lovely readers! We are fortunate to have a lovely sunny Sunday here despite the cold. It’s a lot better than earlier in the week when temperatures in the morning were around 1 degree while I walked to the gym and the days were cold and grey. I know it’s laughable for those in the northern hemisphere but trust me when I say our clothes and houses are not built for the cold! Anyway, I digress. It’s time for me to look back with gratitude at the week from 6th June to 12th June 202 1:

Going for a lovely 12-kilometre hike in the Royal National Park on Sunday with a friend

My body to be able to lift heavy weights and walk long kilometres. I do not take it for granted!

Getting good feedback during my performance review and reflecting on what a huge year it has been emotionally at work for me with all the changes

Capturing beautiful sunrises and sunsets early in the week

Deep and meaningful conversations with friends

Telling a stranger I loved her outfit and seeing her face brighten up

Week 24

Talking to a commuter on the train about a book I was reading – I love random conversations with strangers

Finishing a gorgeous book this week – Whereabouts by Jhumpa Lahiri

Surviving a couple of brutally cold days here in Sydney

Getting my second Covid vaccination on Friday – yay for science!

Recuperating on Saturday but also managing a lovely walk around my neighbourhood

Buying flowers to brighten up the place knowing that the second vaccine might make me feel a bit blah

It’s been a lovely week, albeit slightly anxiety-fuelled leading up to my performance review on Thursday. But overall, the simple pleasures and the little things helped me get through it all. Because in the end, isn’t that what life’s about?

How was your week?

Do share!

I’m glad your performance review went well. And love that you’re able to appreciate your body. I think it’s a really important thing to acknowledge how it serves us.

Sure was a week of mixed weather wasn’t it? I just drove down to Dad’s and back today and whilst it was a cool start by the time I got to his place it was a sparkling sunhiney northern beaches day. Glad your work performance went well. Of course we worry…’that is our nature’ and you got through.

Thanks so much for joining in #LifeThisWeek link up on Monday 14 June. Your presence, comment on my post & adding your blog post too helps make a caring, connected community on-line. Next week the optional prompt is Share Your Snaps. Warm wishes, Denyse.
