Weekly Gratitude 2020 51/52

2020 gratitude

Hello there, lovely readers! Another Sunday, another weekly gratitude edition. And this is after a fucking shitty week. In case you’re not aware, Sydney had a spike in Covid cases after no community transmission for weeks. What didn’t help is that the hotspot is an area close to where I live and have a couple of friends there but also, it has meant some places in my area have cropped up on the list of where people who tested positive visited. I hadn’t been there at those times but it’s a list I’m continuing to monitor in case I need to go get tested too. What’s been really sad is seeing friends’ plans get cancelled but also, the anxiety around all the uncertainty. Despite all that, I’m going to try really hard to look at all the things to be grateful for from 13th December to 19th December 2020:

Receiving confirmation for the lease for the new place and signing the same

Booking movers and starting to plan the move

Surviving a busy week at work

Going in to the office mid-week for a planning day

Visiting a bookstore in Newtown while in the office

Surviving a busy work week

Private practice Christmas party on Friday night – I met the other sub-contracters and it was a fun night {even though there was a bit of anxiety on the growing Covid situation at the time}

My friends in the hotspot areas on the beaches currently being safe

It’s really hard this weekend to find things to be grateful for and I’m getting the same fears that occurred back in June-July. Back then, my mental health spiralled significantly and I’m worried about that now too but watching out for the warning signs.

I hope you are all safe.

How was your week?

Do share!

    Urgh! I feel ya – the coronanxiety is really setting in here as this latest outbreak is really so close to home. That said, we have so much to be grateful for, most importantly, our friends and family are safe and the community seems to do be doing their bit to stop the spread. I’m just trying to take one day at a time and enjoy the little things. I am super excited about your move. You must be counting down the days until your break, you sure have earned it this year! Take care and stay safe xx

    I wish you well Sanch. This wave of cases in Sydney couldn’t have come at a worse time. We are all hanging out to catch up with family that many of us haven’t seen for most of the year and it looks like for many, it now won’t happen. Our family Xmas was this weekend and we had to cancel so I could be here in case hospital called me for surgery. We are devastated to have Xmas cancelled so I understand the angst many are feeling. Sending you my best wishes for the holiday season. Looking forward to catching up again in 2020 #lifethisweek

    It’s the uncertainty that fuels the anxiety, isn’t it? And it affects so many people – Christmas plans, holiday plans, reconnection plans. Everything now up in the air – and not just for those in the impacted areas. It sure sucks big time. We had family coming up here immediately after Christmas & now, of course, won’t be. Wishing you all the best, but also, thank you for these weekly gratitude check-ins.

    It is not fun this renewed covid outbreak. I was in Dee Why and Manly on 17 December so got tested on 18 Dec and had the isolation thing at home. Ok, negative. Then I needed to see my prosthodontist in Westmead and had to drive down which was actually OK but we (B&I) decided that a Sydney Christmas Day lunch at our daughter’s with adult grandkids (who go into the city etc) was too risky. So now, I am trying my best to be practical ….as I can be! We just hope that things will have settled enough COVID wise to have our 50th Wedding Anniversary lunch in January. I hope your move goes well and that you can keep a handle on the anxiety. Thank you so much for your blogging friendship, linking up as you have in 2020 and looking forward to more in 2021 when Life This Week begins…the link up I mean on 4 Jan 2021 with “Word of the Year” as an optional prompt. Stay safe and well, and see you soon…Denyse.
