Weekly Gratitude 2020 39/52

2020 gratitude

Happy Sunday everyone! I’ve had a shitty, shitty week for the most part but have had a decent weekend and put in a lot of effort this week to be kind to myself and also not succumb into a spiral that was beckoning me due to certain circumstances that I’ve been asked to keep confidential for the time being. I’m not going to dwell on that but instead, focus on the things I can be grateful for amidst this shitty time from 20th September to 26th September 2020:

My friend LS coming down for a visit on Sunday from the coast and spending the Sunday showing her around, having brunch and afternoon drinks

Working flexible hours on Monday and being able to hit the beach in the middle of the day for a couple of hours as it was 30 degrees. It was also my first swim of the season and glorious in the freezing cold water

A random act of kindness by a friend who gifted me a bookstore voucher for no reason whatsoever

Getting some really shitty news on Tuesday but being able to talk to a couple of friends on the phone who gave me some good and helpful advice but also a lot of support

Pebbles knowing I needed cuddles and giving me some extra love this week

Impromptu catch up with Sammie and Teddy on Wednesday to help deal with some of my shitty stuff. I highly recommend dog cuddles as therapy

Having a supportive and understanding manager

Having some really, really good friends and family

Going in to the office for the first time since March and actually seeing a couple of members of my team in person, being able to have random chats and laughs

Book club on Thursday night with the girls – a fun time and much-needed to lift my spirits

Good week at the gym with some more new personal bests – 70 kgs deadlifts {3×3}, 60 kgs squats {3×3}, 30 kgs bench press {3×5} and 128.5 kgs leg press {3×30}

Going to a meetup on Saturday – my first since Covid – to meet new women in the area and having a lovely time at brunch

Dinner and drinks with my friends on Saturday night at a local pub

Connecting with people online and offline this week

It’s been an emotionally draining week but I am grateful for people in my life and I’m glad I made the effort to reach out and ask for the support I need but also to connect with people in general. I am aware it’s going to be a tough few weeks but I can only keep going forward.

How was your week?

Do share!

Urgh! Sorry it’s been a crappy week but pleased Teddy and I could be of assistance. One thing I learned this week about you is that you are a legit dog whisperer! No wonder Teddy loves you so much! Hope the coming week brings hope, clarity and calm. Go gently x

Doggy cuddles are the absolute best for when you’ve had shitty news. Hang in there & hope that things become clearer for you.

You’ve definitely had some highlights during your bad week Sanch. hope recognising them has helped you deal with the bad stuff. I’m pretty sure a catch up with Sammie and Teddy would bring a smile. #lifethisweek

What a tough time for you. I am so sorry. Thank you for being my kind friend in your comment to me on the blog post. Your words were very helpful and encouraging. Miss being able to just get a coffee when we can. Sigh!!
