2020 gratitude

Hello lovely readers! This post is coming to you a bit later than usual because I got caught up with having a friend over and then getting stuck in a book. It’s been a pretty decent week despite feeling my continued sense of tiredness. Interestingly, having been quite social on the weekend, I’ve noticed more energy levels. Goes to show how important social connection is. Anyway, without further ado, here are all the things I’m grateful for from 13th September to 19th September 2020:

Starting my Sunday with an hour at the beach before any crowds

Lovely walk locally with some friends on Sunday – the weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed a walk, catching up and then a picnic lunch by the harbour

Reaching a new personal best with deadlifts at the gym – 67.5 kgs {4 sets of 4 reps}

Reading and loving an incredible book – The White Girl by Tony Birch

Long phone chats with friends

Beautiful warm days during the week

Reaching another personal best with the leg press machine – 123 kgs {3 sets of 30 reps}

Catching up with Sammie for drinks and dinner

Being in a much better place mentally than I was two months ago – it’s taken a lot of hard work, courage and vulnerability to get here. It’s not over yet but it’s so much better than before

Supportive and lovely work colleagues

Seeing two of my private clients make a lot of progress with their mental health

Receiving an honourable mention for my essay submission for the YeahWrite Super Challenge competition

Catching up with my old housemate and friend ZW for lunch on Saturday

Cat cuddles and laughs

It’s been a decent week on a lot of fronts and I’m grateful for that. There is still a lot of uncertainty about things; there is still a lot I miss. But I’m continuing on. One day at a time and focussing on what I can control as opposed to what I cannot.

    It was really great to see you during the week and the hard work you’ve been doing is really paying off – every time I see you, you’re going from strength to strength. I think there’s so much uncertainty for us all in the age of Covid is that taking one day at a time is all we can do. Hope this week is full of good days!

    Great PBs at the gym – I’m really feeling stymied by this leg issue at the moment – I don’t realise just how much of my wellbeing is tied up in daily walks. It certainly does sound as though you had a pretty decent week…here’s wishing you another.

    A great week overall and when you do make the comparisons from previous weeks/months you too can see how well you are going.

    Good on you for all you do to help yourself because just starting can be the biggest challenge.
