Weekly Gratitude 2020 29/52

2020 gratitude

Happy Sunday everyone! The sun is finally out today after a week of grey skies and rain! I don’t know about you, but when the weather is overcast, it adds another layer of doom and gloom for me. But when the sun’s out, there is hope and optimism. Like everything will be right with the world. Which, let’s face it, we know is currently not. But I digress. It’s that time of the week to look back with gratitude from 12th July to 18th July 2020:

Going to the local arts and crafts markets with my friend on a gorgeous Sunday morning

Walking along the harbourside and enjoying a chat with the same friend, enjoying lunch and a coffee

Seeing a beautiful rainbow on Sunday afternoon when the storm clouds rolled over

Supportive chats with a friend about my anxiety about a possible second lockdown

Pebbles being the best cat ever and giving me lots of cuddles and lap time after sensing my anxiety

Reading an amazing book earlier in the week – A Lonely girl is a dangerous thing by Jessie Tu

Working out every day this week at the gym

Watching the B-List bookclub online as Bri Lee chatted with Jessie Tu. I wish in-person events would happen soon but grateful to have these options

Being part of a super supportive and amazing team at work; my team has had some really tough weeks professionally and personally while we are all still battling the added anxiety of a possible second wave but my team continues to support one another and also give everything to the young people we work with

Having a good supervision session with my supervisor

Sitting in a cafe on Saturday morning with a coffee and a book

Afternoon naps on the couch with the cats

I won’t lie – it hasn’t been a great week emotionally but I am grateful for the little things that get me through it all. I am really, really hoping there isn’t a lockdown because I rely on the gym for a lot of my current mental stability and if were locked down, I’m not sure how I’d cope. I’m back to thinking and getting annoyed about how we prioritise physical health over mental health but I’m also aware there are no easy answers.

How has your week been?

Do share!

Anxiety about a second wave lockdown is definitely increasing. You’re fortunate that you have a great team to help you through. Wishing you a great week & controlled covid numbers.

I feel your anxiety about the second lockdown. I’m not anxious about being locked down per se but hate the sense of uncertainty. I think we need to get together over a coffee or wine and set the world to rights. Hope this week is more sunshine and rainbows! And Happy Birthday to Pebbles! We both have cancerian pets!

I understand the concern about a second wave and subsequent lockdown Sanch, it’s the uncertainty at the moment that is hard to handle, on top of everything else. I’m so pleased to hear you have been finding ways to manage that anxiety.
