Library Visit

A shrill scream pierced the silence in the library.

The librarian rushed towards the sound in the 590s.

Pressed against the wall was a wide-eyed girl, zoology books strewn in front of her.

‘Now really…’ began the librarian. She froze as the two-metre diamond python slithered towards her.

As a snake-phobic that’s an image I won’t get out of my head quickly…. (also good reason NEVER to even look at pictures of snakes online or in books!)

    Great piece! x

Thank you! I was inspired by the 2-metre python that visited my place when I lived in the coast – just before I moved. I think that was the final straw!! I am snake-phobic too and I think for good reason!!

I love a librarian story. The detail about the 590s was brilliant. Nice job building tension in such a short story!

What a great scary tale! I love how you packed so much action into 48 words.

Ooh now I want to know where the snake came from? One of the zoology books was alive? I hope you’ll expand this one.
