Weekly Gratitude 2020 17/52

2020 gratitude

Welcome to another Sunday, everyone! I don’t know about you but working from home has made it seem like weekends are a lot shorter. Then again, that is most likely going to change for me as we were told about pay cuts at work this week which equates to some forced leave days with the same workload. Essential workers apparently, but when you choose to not work for toxic government services, I guess this is a downside. Oh well, amidst the anxiety of financial pressures, I still found things to be grateful for from 19th April to 25th April 2020:

Sunday afternoon walk-talk-and-coffee catch up with a friend

Meal-prepping for the first time on Sunday since the whole change to routine

Some funny workout sessions twice this week because of Buttons demanding attention

Going into the office on Tuesday to pick up a couple of things and despite it feeling like a ghost town, it was nice to spend an hour there

Visiting one of my favourite bookshops – Better Read than Dead – on Tuesday to pick up some books I won in a giveaway as well as buy a couple of books

Taking a longer lunch break on Wednesday and spending it with Sam and Teddy in the sunshine

Phone conversations and Facetime chats with friends

Beautiful sunsets

Lovely walk on Friday after work by the harbour and watching the colours of the sky change

Autumn leaves and colours

Spending time at the beach walking, swimming and then coffee with a friend on Saturday

Watching season 2 of After Life – the tears and the laughs and all the emotions!!

It’s been a weird week but I suppose we are all saying that right now. I know again here we have been fairly lucky compared to other countries but while that might be in the form of the virus, I don’t think we are lucky where jobs and mental health are concerned. I do think it’s only going to get worse. But sadly, I don’t know if it’ll matter as much.

How was your week?

Do share!

Sounds like a pretty good week. And hopefully some funding will go into helping the mental health issues – there was some muttering about it earlier on, but I’ve noticed it’s been forgotten #Lifethisweek

I’m finding myself feeling more anxious than usual at the moment, yet things haven’t changed too much for me, although I suspect some unpaid leave is around the corner too. I’m feeling that sunrises and birdsong are more important than ever to keep perspective that life goes on. We don’t have autumn as such up here, but seeing the seasonal change would also help, I suspect.

I did see your workout session with your cat Sanch and I love that you’re finding things to be grateful for DESPITE that other stuff. I actually made myself identify ‘things to be grateful for’ the other night as I was struggling a little and it really helped. They were tiny things but something nevertheless.

Hope you’re able to continue to find gratitude this week. xx

Urgh so sorry about the pay cut – it’s happened to a few of my friends, a sad sign of the times. Lucky there’s been lots of smooth with that rough and pleased me and Teddy made the cut. On the flip side that means we can have a longer walk, right?! How good is After Life. I think it’s the only show that makes me laugh as hard as I cry!

I’m grateful for all the opportunities I get to connect with the people at work as well. I never knew I’d ever feel this fortunate to be able to just go to my physical place of work.

A good week in some ways, but not the pay cut! I couldn’t get into After Life for some reason…#lifethisweek

Pay cut news sucks 🙁 Hope they can work something out. I convinced myself to finally book leave and now that it’s 9 days off after this Friday I’m really looking forward to it. I felt like a ‘waste’ but I took so few breaks last year I REALLY felt it by the end of the year so I have to keep telling myself that downtime is not a waste. Thankfully right as I start my ‘holiday’ we have a slight ease on restrictions so I’ll now be able to go to the beach for a sit! It has been 5 ish weeks since I’ve been able to do go to the beach which is so weird when it’s so close.

It’s crazy how long this lockdown is going on with no cure for the virus in sight! I am now getting used to having people at home. Also, I have found a way to balance my housework and blog work. Though I do miss enjoying the quietness now I am wondering if I would feel terribly lonely once the lockdown is lifted and everyone goes back to schools and offices!
Pay cut sounds bad. The terrifying thought of the husband losing his job threatens my mind every other day. Then again, we are the lucky ones who still have a job to lose.
I saw your workout video with Buttons – so adorable. <3
Hey, that's a pretty new picture you got here, Sanch! I wish you a good week with lots of exercises, books, and cuddles with the cats!

Oh there are some mixed pieces of news there. I am glad you got to catch up with people and a pooch! The work thing is not great. So much of the unknown isn’t it? Sorry about that. Winning the books was great. Ups and downs this week, hey!!

Thank you for linking up for Life This Week. Next week the optional prompt is 18/51 Taking Stock #2 4.5.2020. Hope to see you there too. Denyse.
