Weekly Gratitude 2020 7/52

2020 gratitude

Happy Sunday, everyone! I currently feel like the weeks are just whizzing past without a moment for me to reflect in between. And despite that, when I do have down time like this afternoon, I feel guilty for not doing anything. I really need to figure my head out! Anyway, now is not the time to moan and groan but rather, to reflect on the week gone by and all that I’m grateful for from 9th February to 15th February 2020:

Getting a massage to ease my upper back

Relaxing Sunday at home on the couch when it was pissing down with rain

Being able to work from home on Monday in the aftermath of the incredible storm

Catching up with a friend for a drink on Monday night and talking all things reading, writing, moving, life, social media

Watching Ricky Gervais’ standup on Netflix – Humanity – agreeing with it all and nodding along, tweeting something about it and having him like the tweet

Seeing a physio on Tuesday night and finding out I’ve strained my rotator cuff. Grateful I saw him sooner rather than later and started to get treatment and exercises for the same

A really good meeting with my manager and learning that it’s so good and so refreshing to work in a culture that values transparency and openness

Reading in a bar after work on Wednesday while also managing to have good conversation with the bartender

Attending an author event at Better Read than Dead after work – I love that I work so close and can attend these events. It’s probably not great for my bank account though!

A week of having random dogs greeting me on the street. On Wednesday, a couple’s dog was seated next to them, stood up as I was approaching and came towards me for a pat and cuddle. On Friday, closer to home, an older lady’s Schnauzer decided to detour from where she was trying to take him and came up to me and had his paws on my leg and didn’t want to let go! Just call me the animal whisperer {you know about my adventures with all the cats in Europe!}

Awesome book club on Thursday night – great conversations and a lot of fun

Buying tickets for Trent Dalton in conversation with Annabel Crabb in June {thanks for letting me know, Denyse!} and roping in some friends for the same!

Long phone conversation with a friend

Reading by the waterfront on Friday after work

Getting good news on Friday that my rotator cuff is improving rapidly

Watching Morning Wars (aka The Morning Show) with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon – if you haven’t watched it, you should!! It’s brilliant!

Hitting the beach on Saturday morning before all the crowds

Saturday night fun with friends – dinner, drinks, dessert, laughs

It’s been a good week. I haven’t been able to exercise as much as I usually like given the strain and recommendations by the physio. It has also been crazy busy at work but in a good way. I feel slightly unsettled but also so, so grateful for this life.

So many things to celebrate, Sanch. I like how so many are to do with talking, reaching out and interacting. Taking a leaf from your book and going out to make my own social interactions this week.

Any week with lots of chats with random dogs is a good one in my books! As for the rotator cuff, not so good…but good that it’s on the mend.

I love this exercise of writing down everything you are thankful for in a week. It makes me realize how much I have to be thankful for too. Aren’t massages the best? And you got to go to the beach!

So many good things there. Really pleased about the work thing. Always a tricky one to negotiate when ‘new’ but they were onto a good thing when they employed you. I am glad the rotator cuff has been caught early too. Pain is not your friend….nor mine.

Yay for Trent tickets for you. I am off to Chat 10 Look 3 by myself on Sat at Newy. I wasn’t going to go but did not buy the ticket for no reason. So, another boost to my confidence by doing something at night and away from home. I am in your ‘hood on Thursday FILMING (bit scared) a video for Beyond Five at Lifehouse.

Thank you for being part of Life This Week. Next Week’s optional prompt is 8/51 Unusual 23/2/2020. Hope to see you link up again too! Denyse.

What a lovely week you’ve got Sanch. I am a fan of massage and I don’t joke with my massagers few times I can’t visit a spa.
