Weekly Gratitude 2019 38/52

2019 weekly gratitude

Hello from Sydney everyone!! Yes, I’m back home after what has seemed like the longest travel time ever! I left the hotel in Athens on Friday night at 9 pm, caught the metro to the airport, and eventually left Athens at 1 a.m. Saturday morning. We reached Doha in four hours and had a 3-hour wait where I managed a 45-minute nap. But then, after some of us boarded our flight to Sydney, we found out there was a mechanical problem and we had to disembark while they got a new flight. Basically we had to wait another 3 hours before we could board again. I don’t sleep too well on planes so apart from brief naps, I basically didn’t sleep much at all! But, I’m home safe. And that’s all that matters. Without further ado, it’s time to look back at all that I’m grateful for from 15th September to 21st September 2019.

Seeing the Parthenon in Athens. There was something quite awe-inspiring being around it

Enjoying yummy Greek food

Spending time people-watching while sitting in a wine bar in Thessaloniki

Being blown away at Meteora by the amazing things nature can do

Watching the sunset at Meteora

Cuddling all the Greek cats but particularly one who looked a bit like Pebbles at a monastery who chose to sit on my lap, groom itself, groom me and then fall asleep. I wanted to take her home with me!!

Meeting some fun people on the trip

Finally heading home

It’s been a good week with travel and it’s taught me a lot about how I want to travel in future. For instance, month-long tours (or 3 back-to-back ones) are probably not the best for me. Maybe shorter tours with me doing something with a friend or solo before or after is the best. I’m back at work on Tuesday and slowly looking forward to getting back into my routine. I’ll slowly start to share posts and photos from my trip.

How was your week?

Do share!

I saw that snake on your Instagram – had he turned up to welcome you home?! Hope you managed to send him on his merry way! Long haul travel sucks balls, I hope you managed to catch up on some zzzs and get back into the swing of things. Your trip looked amazing!

I loved viewing your holiday (not the part when you were crook) but I understand the need to pack in as much as possible on a holiday as Australia is so far from everywhere.

Your ‘welcome’ home thanks to the snake was NOT fun, I know.

Hope your ‘back to work’ time has been kind.

Thank you for linking up for #lifethisweek. Next week, 30/9/19 the optional prompt is Spring Stories. Hope you can join in too. Denyse.

I love Greece. Have been to some of it twice and happily go again. Some of the family cafe-restaurants have such a friendly an welcoming way. As the for the view of the sea there – it is so stunning.
