Weekly Gratitude 2019 31/52

2019 weekly gratitude

Happy Sunday you guys! It’s been one hell of a week for me. Most of it was pretty shitty physically and emotionally but it has wound down to an okay place thanks to good friends and some time to reflect. I’m not happy but I am grateful and okay. It’s probably also a good time to be writing this gratitude post and reflecting on things I am grateful for from 28th July to 3rd August 2019:

Seeing my lovely friend KL‘s three-week-old baby girl on Sunday, who by the way did not cry when I held her

Being ordered by my GP to take three most of the week off work because my sinusitis got worse; I’m glad I have a job where I can take sick leave

My friend LS coming over on Thursday night and having dinner together

Wearing a really cute dress that probably would never have been my style if I hadn’t seen Emily wearing it

Having a really shitty experience but having wonderful friends and family validate and support me via messages

Spiralling down a rabbit hole of self-doubt and self-loathing and the pointlessness of it all but being brought out of it by these friends

gratitude week 31

Going to a gig on Friday night to watch the all-girl rock band, Stonefield – much needed after the emotionally shitty couple of days

Driving to and from the gig with my mate BH who took official photos and having long conversations and laughs

Catching up with Denyse for coffee on Saturday and once again, having great chats as always but also feeling validated and supported after I talked about the shitty experience this week. It’s always good when someone reminds you about self-compassion!

Hitting the gym on Saturday afternoon after what seems like ages and then spending some time reflecting on life while at the beach

Listening to Tool’s old albums – they’ve released their back catalogue for streaming and download and I’m slightly obsessed. Not surprising given one of my favourite bands, Karnivool, were inspired by Tool

My first Saturday night-in in six weeks and binge-watching season 2 of Derry Girls

I may or may not share at some point why exactly things were shitty this week {besides the sinusitis}. But it’s heartening to know I have great friends and family, a roof over my head, loving cats, and things I still love doing. I need to remember that.

How was your week?

Do share!

Sorry about the sinusitis but happy to hear that friends are there to rally around you… Also the concert sounds good.

In Kerala, we are going through viral flu season now so there’s not a single bed free in my hospital…

I hate a shitty Friday and Saturday too but Sunday was quite nice. Like you mentioned, it is always good to hold on to things like a warm roof, warmth of family including Coco and friends who look out for you. I really hope that whatever you are struggling with gets better, Sanch.

I’m always impressed by your ability to keep up with social/band/fun things in the middle of bad weeks. It’s a skill I don’t have – I’m more likely to flop on the couch!

Friends are such a huge support system, aren’t they? Sometimes that’s all one has between sanity and a complete breakdown. I am so so glad you have support. And that you could take a few days off to look after yourself. Take care Sanch and I hope whatever it was that was worrying you gets resolved soon.

That post sure did sum up your week. A week that no-one wants to repeat but you did find some good there. I think it helps me too when we chat and the self-compassion thing that we continue to learn together is important shared over coffee!!

Thank you for linking up for Life This Week. Next week’s optional prompt is 32/51 What Makes You Laugh? 12/8/19. Hope to see you there too! Denyse.
