Patriarchy

A millennial woman
Independent, confident,
the breadwinner for her home

Behind closed doors,
Cooking, cleaning,
carrying the emotional load

The power of patriarchy persists

This is so true for so many women. This contrast was a great choice for this poetry form.

Really nice job with the sevenling form! You’ve got the contrasting stanzas just right. And it’s definitely a subject that most of us can relate too.

How do you manage to say so much in such few words! This is so succinctly put and so true too.

A story that’s sadly all too true. Hopefully with the #SharetheLoad campaigns and all, things will start taking a turn for the better. But patriarchy does have some deep roots, especially in our country!
