Fresh Start

fresh start

she closed the door behind him
breathed a sigh of relief;
now with him finally gone
she could live the life she’d dreamed

no one to smother her
no one to hold her back;
no one to tell her to be afraid
as if the world was going to attack

he’d drained her emotionally
his fears becoming hers
slowly eroding her confidence
by dismissing her tears

there’d be no more excuses
no giving him another chance
she was tired of his actions
and their toxic two-way dance

a fresh start was what she yearned
to reset boundaries again;
a new chapter, a new beginning
nurturing the woman within

    It is the best decision to make–to get rid of people who burn you out, dim your enthusiasm and ruin your peace! The only thing one can do for oneself, really…Self-care at its best!

    It’s always nice to get rid of the deadwood in your life be it human relationships or actual material stuff that is just needlessly occupying space. Clearing up headspace especially is good for the soul
