Life Lessons

the longing to return
to simpler times –
of carefree moments
with no deadlines,
to running barefoot
with windswept hair,
climbing trees
going nowhere

yet, the present
brings surprises –
new adventures,
freedom to explore;
challenges occur
as part of life,
help build resilience
and assist our growth

nostalgic minds
recreate the past
to appear to us
in rosy hues;
to live in the now
though a tough ask
must be savoured
with gratitude

    This is so beautiful and I can relate to it, Babby. Of course, it is only when the present seems too hard to take that the heart longs to go to the past where it was, perhaps, a bit better. 🙂 To live in the present moment and accept it and live it does feel wonderful, I know.

    Great. I especially like the final lines. If only we could heed them.

    Sometimes when we dwell too much on the past, or worry too much about the future, we forget to truly live and savor the current moment, which is a shame, because that’s the only way to truly experience and live life to the fullest.
