Week 1 of #12WBT February 2017

On Monday the 6th of February, I officially commenced my 12WBT journey. I had prepared my meals on the Saturday {as I was going to be out of the house on Sunday} and was ready and raring to go at 4:50 on Monday morning. Monday and Wednesday were cardio days, Tuesday and Thursday were all about strength-training. On Friday, exercise was focussed on the core and flexibility and finally Saturday was a super-circuit.

week 1 12wbt february 2017

With my meals, while I didn’t take photos of all my meals, I did enjoy most of them.  My meals included Soba noodles with cabbage and tofu, Japanese tofu noodles, Baked vegetarian pasta, salmon sandwich and Smokey Lemon vegetable kebabs. Unfortunately, I overcooked my soba noodles for both the noodle dishes and they ended up a bit gluggy. I loved the kebabs {even though they were just grilled veggies} and the pasta. I also tried one breakfast — the Summer Smoothie Bowl — which was fantastic!

It wasn’t too hard to stick to the meals and the exercise. I exercised 6 days this week and stuck to meals. I didn’t get tempted by cake and chocolates at work. I think the accountability helps me stay disciplined. I’ve mentioned it to most people at work that I’m doing the program so it definitely helps me stay accountable.

And now, the best bit. On weigh-in Wednesday, I found out I’d lost 1.1 kilos from when I started. Goes to show it’s the diet that’s oh-so-important! It’s the one thing I struggle with but I’m hoping like the last time I did 12WBT, it will bring about a change in my mindset and lifestyle to the point where I’ll be eating things in moderation and not just binging like there’s no tomorrow.

Anyway, it’s onto Week 2. My meals are prepared but I have a wedding to attend on Saturday so that’ll be interesting. The exercise goes up a notch with more reps during weight training.

Looking forward to it!

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

Well done, although depressingly your starting weight is less than half of my current weight (after losing 38kg).

I did 12WBT a few times back in 2011 etc. I lost 19kg in the first round which was great. My father got sick and passed away in the second round so I struggled a bit and only lost another 6 or so kg. Then I got sick of the whole thing which started to feel like a cult and quit.

I didn’t ever stick to the food plans though NOR did I do her exercise plans. I was barely capable of 20mins on an exercise bike when I started round 1 but I’d joined a gym by the time it finished and then became addicted to a range of classes there.

(Of course I regained 35 of the 25kg I lost later, but I think it’s a good program for many.)

I may have body image issues so please don’t go with my weight. Having said that, I am also quite short. Only 152 cms tall. So I’m still within my weight range. I can understand giving up after feeling like it was a bit of a cult. I do like their meals a lot and the accountability keeps me going.

Most guys tend to lose weight quite quickly though, don’t they? I am also certain you are twice my height Roshan! 🙂 Or if not twice my height at least a whole foot taller.

Oh wow! I’ve been following your meals on Insta and I so wish i could do half of what you’re doing.

I need to lose weight too and I can never diet. Still trying to find something that will fill me up and help me control my weight too. Help me, sistah!

Oh Soumya…I can’t do fad diets either. The good thing about this program is that I get to eat 5-6 times a day. It just has to stay within the calorie limit. They give us the main meals and recommend snacks that keep you fuller for longer. Protein based snacks or veggies or nuts keep me fuller for longer. Oh and no dessert on weeknights. 🙂

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head, Sanch. It’s often the diet that is the culprit when weight loss programs fail. Clean eating and not fad eating is what works in the long run. Fantastic results in the first week. Keep it up!

Oh that’s a great start. I am poised to get back to the gym and start weight training after a couple of years of not doing it. Menopause (and over eating!) has seen me bloom to 80kg which is a bit of a shock to the system. I am thinking that a program might be a good plan. Am re-reading The Don’t Go Hungry Diet and aiming to follow that idea of always being a bit hungry before eating. It’s a blooming challenge when I live with four slim active people who need to eat bulk carbs… and I’m their cook.

    But onwards and upwards.

Well done on your loss! I bet that was a nice surprise. I actually weighed myself today on the industrial scales at work, wasn’t what I wanted to see, but it’s the first time I have weighed in after the silly season. I have some work to do.

Well done, you! Had to check out what 12WBT was after reading this! I am too lazy to do meal preps, and cakes and chocolates are something I can’t avoid. But thankfully, I have stuck to my goals of fitness. At home exercises and dance is what makes me happy and helps me feel good!
Now, heading to my yoga mat!
