One day, I’m going to die. Just like everyone else. I try and think about my purpose in life, about the meaning of my life and most of the time, I come up with the usual cliches. But maybe that’s what my life is meant to be. Cliches that give me meaning. Here are 10 things I hope to be remembered for when I leave this planet.
I’d love to be remembered as someone who helped others either professionally as a psychologist or personally. There’s a reason I went into a helping profession and even though I can’t always keep track of clients gone by, I hope I’ve helped someone enough to make a change in their lives.
Making a difference
In some ways, this is linked with the previous reason I want to be remembered for but I really do want to be known to make a difference. I’ve blogged about this before and I guess I have realised I don’t need to do something big, something huge to make a difference. I hope that in some way, I can make a difference to my clients or to people I meet in life.
Kindness is something I value and if when I die, people remember me for being kind, I think I’d die happy!
I’d love to be remembered as someone who was passionate about causes she believed in — feminism, mental health stigma, racism, discrimination.
Something I write
This is something I fantasise about but I reckon it’d be wonderful to be remembered for something I wrote. A book, a story, a poem. Anything!
An awesome sister/friend/daughter/partner
Well, let’s face it. Relationships are what matter the most in life. So in death, I’d love to be remembered for that.
Funny is not something people associate with me straight away. That’s because it takes a while to get to know my weird sense of humour. I guess if I’m remembered as funny, it would mean you’ve really got to know me well.
What would you like to be remembered for?
If you are new to Friday Reflections, here’s what it’s about. It’s the end of the week, you’re probably exhausted with work, and all you want to do is sit back, put your feet up, sip on some fancy cocktail or wine, and write away.
Write Tribe and yours truly give you writing prompts and all you have to do is choose any one of those prompts to blog about and link up every Friday. The link will be open till the Monday. After you link up, be sure to spread the love by visiting other bloggers who have linked up too.
Feel free to add our Friday Reflections badge to your post or sidebar! Follow us on Twitter @FridayReflect and join our Facebook Group. Share your post on social media with the hashtag #FridayReflections.
Prompts for this week:
1. List 10 things you hope to be remembered for
2. Describe 5 strengths you have
3. Five people who have influenced you
4. “Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.” – Neil Gaiman. Use this quote in your post or as an inspiration for one.
5. Picture Prompt (via http://everydaygyaan.com)
I didn’t put up a Friday Reflections post last week due to internet issues and finally, as of last night, I received my new modem. I haven’t read all the posts yet so will take some time with my lovely co-host to go through the posts this week and choose a featured writer. But if you want to be in the running for next week, do join in below!
Until next time,
