5 hobbies I enjoy #FridayReflections

I remember when I was younger and I’d be asked about hobbies. For some reason back then, I thought my hobbies weren’t really hobbies. It wasn’t anything like stamp collecting or coin collecting, it wasn’t anything big that I made time for to train or excel at. Consequently, I assumed I didn’t have any hobbies.

Thankfully, that’s changed.

I’ve learnt that a hobby is any activity or interest you pursue in your leisure time or to relax. Since then, I’ve accepted my hobbies and also, added a few more.

Here are the 5 hobbies I enjoy:

This has been my favourite hobby since I was about five years old. As a child, I couldn’t be found without a book and it even earned me the nickname ‘Bookworm’ by a teacher in primary school. Now, as an adult too, I make sure I carry a book with me to most places. You can tell my love for books with the book reviews on the blog too {even though I’m really lagging behind!}

There’s a reason the blog exists. It’s because of my love for writing. Sure, I go through phases with my creative writing and there are times I’m bursting with creativity while at other times {such as since the move!}, I’m begging for it to speak to me. But it doesn’t matter as I’m satisfied with even writing a few lines every now and then or scribbling something down in a notebook.

There was a time in the past three years when I was a bit fanatical about exercise. I loved it and thrived on it. Sadly, it’s not been the case this year. I hope to get back into it and I feel like I sort of started with two days of exercising at the gym last week. Here’s to more days this coming week!

I say this is a hobby because it is a wonderful way to relax. Whether it’s sun-baking or swimming or even just walking or sitting and admiring the waves, the beach is the best.

Hiking and camping

I haven’t done all that much of hiking and camping the last two years but I love it when I do. It’s my plan for next year to explore more camping spots up the Central Coast way and enjoy nights around the campfire and sharing laughs and wine with others.

So there you have it. Five hobbies I enjoy.

What about you? What are your hobbies?

Do share!

    Hiking is a good hobby so long as company is fun and the views interesting. I must admit diving has superseded my hiking. I love diving in tropical waters my favourite being Heron Island. Sharks, turtles and manta rays are some of the most intriguing creatures. The feeling of drifting in water is so exhilarating. Exploring new places via air is an upcoming hobby. Hopefully come 2017 I can expand my hiking destinations by flying to remote locations. Don’t mind a good read now and then :).

      Totally agree the company is important when hiking or camping! I’m envious of your diving expeditions…sounds fantastic! The best I’ve done is snorkelling…I’m hoping to do more of it up here as well as try and get into stand-up paddleboarding.
