If we were having coffee 8 October 2016 #WeekendCoffeeShare

Another weekend, another time to welcome you over for a cuppa. Get comfortable on the couch and I’ll grab you a beverage of your choice. How are you this weekend?

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you this week has flown by! I guess having the Monday off due to a long weekend helped. I started my new job up the coast on Tuesday. Four days in and I’m quite happy with my decision to make that change. The team have been lovely and welcoming and most of them have a dark sense of humour. Just as I like it! Plus, I have a caseload of about nine clients already and it’s been good to start seeing some of them and knowing I get to work with them on moderate to severe mental health problems. I’m hoping this sense of elation and hope lasts!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you it’s been weird not living at home for four nights this week. I stayed at a friend’s place that’s an hour away from my place and 45 minutes from my new job. It has been nice to have that place but well, it’s been weird without my cats. One more week though and then I’ll be moving into my own home up the coast. I can’t wait!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I thoroughly enjoyed the grand final last Sunday. My local team — Cronulla Sharks — played against the Melbourne Storm. Mr Imperfect and I went to the local pub to watch the game. Now, I’m not a footy fan and haven’t watched a single game all season. But the atmosphere in the shire during the week or two leading up to the grand final has been infectious that it’s hard not to get into the spirit of things. So I had my face painted and watched the game with a whole bunch of shire locals. And in the end, it was so worth it as we rejoiced after a nail-biting final ten minutes! Yes, the Sharks won after 50 long years. Their first ever premiership. Even though I’m not a footy fan, I’m such a Shire girl at heart. I’m going to miss the Shire when I move up the coast.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you my mum has gone back home from the hospital. She messaged me on Monday to let me know she was going home. My dad rang me last Sunday to update me on things too. I do feel guilty being so far away from them. Yet, I don’t think they’d want to leave all that’s familiar to them and there’s no way I’d ever go back to live there.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I’ve managed to get a tenant for my place here. They will move in the week after I’ve moved out. In that time, I’ll be having the unit professionally cleaned and the carpet replaced. The move is turning out to be more expensive than I’d initially intended but hopefully, it will all be worth it in the end.

If we were having coffee, I’d ask you if you could help me pack the rest of my stuff and help me move! There’s so much left to do — I still have to clear out my closet and pack all my kitchen stuff. It seems never ending. I kinda wish I could fast forward time to the 17th of October when I’ve moved and hopefully, unpacked.

If we were having coffee, I’d ask you what’s new with you and if you have any updates for me regarding your work, your play, your lifestyle.

Do share!

It is great that your new nob is going along fine. Hope in six months you will say the same. I know you can’t wait to get settled again. I suspect your cats are missing and will be happy to have familiar obnects around. Prayers that your Mother continues to improve. Have a pleasant week.

Congrats for the new job and you will shine. I’d tell you that today I got the skin below the eyes removed and was growing. Was scared a bit but done in less than 5 minutes. I am also reading Bastard of Istanbul and running a bit against time. Have a good week.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the new job and I hope that continues, or at least it continues to be fulfilling.

The parents thing is hard. I was away during my father’s heart transplant (overseas then though made it home before his surgery) and then a few hours away over the next decade or so as my dad developed dementia and mum became his carer.

I’m glad I’ve moved closer to mum now (as part of my seachange) and – though I can’t imagine moving any time soon – will stay here near her now. I’m not sure if I’ll be here forever, but she’s always been there for me and I want to do that for her now as she gets older (she’s only 72 now).

I hope the next week or so passes quickly and you’re soon in your new place and have your own space again. x

Happy to hear the new job is going well and everything is falling into place. I’m sure the shire girl will become a coastie as well! Sorry to hear about your Mum. Hope everything is OK. If we were having coffee I’d probably just eat all the cake and try not to talk about my kids too much! lol

You have been kicking lots of goals in this past week. New job sounding good and next week, moving to your own place will help I am sure. I hear you on the parents’ issue. My dad is 92 and suffering a bit right now with issues of mobility. I cannot help him due to distance and I am not cut out to do that kind of care…but my bro is close by and doing the doctor visits etc for now. We shall see how Dad goes. Hoping he is well enough to stay living where he is for now. Thanks for linking up today!

I’m so happy that you’re settling into the new job, and that things are moving along for the move. I’m even happier you’re taking the time to relax and play.

It was a week of transition and tempest for me. Some writing revelations; some space usage revelations. Kids who keep getting bigger and more grown. This week, we’re gearing up for the preview of Hamilton’s America, a documentary about the making of Hamilton: An American Musical. That happens next Monday at our state museum, which is a favorite destination for us; the kids and I may go leaf-peeping on the weekend, since the colors are going to be near peak, and the weather is expected to be lovely.

Later that week, my daughter and I will be touring Schuyler Mansion, where Alexander Hamilton and his wife Eliza married in 1780. A few days after that, my son and I are off to Fort Ticonderoga, where there is a display of items belonging to Alexander, as well as members of the Schuyler family.

There seems to be a theme here… =)

    May your week be lovely!
