If we were having coffee 24 September 2016 #WeekendCoffeeShare

Welcome to another Weekend Coffee share! It’s a beautiful sunny day but one where I’ve got to go to work. So sadly, most of my day will be spent indoors. I still will get to spend time with you and have a cuppa this morning before I leave.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I’m nursing a hangover. I haven’t had a hangover in years and to be honest, I’m surprised I’m having one now. Last night, I went for my final work drinks and it was lovely. More so because some of the people I’ve become really good friends with were present. We also had dinner in addition to my three glasses of wine yesterday. While I still go in on Monday, most others will be on school holidays so it was my last day with them. I know in spite of all the stresses of the job, the Friday night drinks and the company are what I’ll miss the most. I got a card signed but a few people but what was even more special was a card and a gift card to a hiking store by those I’ve become friends with. I feel so grateful that in the nine months I’ve been there, I’ve managed to get to know some people so well that they know my love for the outdoors.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I’ve woken up to the news that the Sharks are through to the grand finals next week. Now, I’m not a footy fan but given that I live in the Shire, it’s hard to escape the enthusiasm. And some of it is infectious. Since the Sharks have never won the premiership and since I’m leaving the shire soon, I can’t help but want them to win. Let’s face it, they’ll be playing Melbourne in the finals most likely so who do Sydneysiders really want to win? Having said that, realistically I know the sharks are going to lose but I can still hope!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you my week has been very productive. I’ve completed all my paperwork and printed out all my emails. Now I just go in on Monday and pack up my office, do an official handover to my colleague and then I’m done with this job. I’m also starting to get excited about the seachange as I started packing some of my books this week. The boxes have begun, the culling will continue next week and hopefully, I’ll pack a whole lot more next week.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you it looks like I’ll only be able to move up to my place on the Central Coast {which is a 5 minute drive to the beach!} on the 15th of October. That’s 10 days after I officially start my job. I’m going to have to temporarily stay with a friend who lives 40 minutes from where I’ll be working before I do the whole move thing on a weekend. Speaking of which, I have got to do all the administrative things of booking removalists, redirecting my mail, transferring my internet service, setting up electricity blah, blah, blah. I’m so not looking forward to that bit!

If we were having coffee, I’d stop talking just about myself. I’d promise you that once I’ve moved, I probably have more things to chat about than just work and the move! I might even look at making these chats a whole lot more interesting and revamp the format if needed. I’d stop talking and start listening and ask you how your week has been.

Do share!

Sounds like you’ve had a productive time and are starting to get things sorted. Good luck with all the moving and finding your feet on the coast. I’m still coughing a lot which is driving me crazy.
All the best with it all!

Congratulations on finishing up at work – you must be a fantastic colleague to have made such lovely friends after such a short time. Best of luck with the seachange!

Completely understand the overwhelm of the move. Mine felt uncertain for so long and then suddenly – when confirmed – I had 10 days. But it’s all gone pretty well and I’m sure yours will as well.

It’s a nuisance though that you’ll have to stay with a friend initially but perhaps it’ll be okay – someone to talk to about the new job etc…

And you’ll appreciate the minimal commute all the more when you finally get to move in.

I hope your hangover got better quickly. I spent the weekend preparing for and hosting a second birthday party for my son at almost 38 weeks pregnant.

That was a lovely way to finish the work role. I am glad you got to do that. And yes, go Sharkies! It’s fun when a local team is in the GF. So pleased you found somewhere to live. Phew. Even if there is a gap before you move in,…you have now got it sorted. Thanks so much for linking up today too.

Argh! The movingy admin things suck balls, but the good thing about it, is that it’s temporary and it’s always worth it. You won’t know yourself once you get to your new place – 5 minutes from the beach, squee! If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I can’t feel sad about going home after my month long holiday because it’s just been so full of happy. I’d tell you how I’m not going to drink any wine and eat loads of lettuce to make up for 31 days of edible extravagance! I’d also wish you lots of luck with your move. PS Hope you get something great with that voucher!
