If we were having coffee 6 August 2016 #WeekendCoffeeShare

Welcome, take a seat. Get comfortable. It’s that time of the week when we sit back, relax with a cuppa and have a chat. Can I just say, even though I’m not actually sitting back, it’s nice to imagine sitting and relaxing? Especially after the week I’ve had.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you if I thought last week was bad, this week turned out to be even more exhausting. It started with a busy few days at work as well as after work. I had something on every night this week. But work made it worse. You see, something happened at work on Thursday and given confidentiality, I can’t actually talk about it but let’s just say as a result, I was inundated with clients non-stop all Thursday and Friday. It got so bad on Friday that I didn’t have time for breakfast or lunch. I managed a quick snack and coffee around 10:30 but that was it till I finished work. I felt like a stiff drink from 11 in the morning but had to wait close to 5 p.m. before I downed two glasses of red quickly. Not a great coping strategy but I needed it.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I’m sad I didn’t exercise as much as I wanted to. I only managed two days at the gym because of hardly any sleep and being too tired to wake up in the mornings. I also slept one morning on the train and couldn’t blog one night because of how tired I was.

If we were having coffee, it wouldn’t be all doom and gloom. I’d tell you how I had a great evening on Monday when I went to watch Liane Moriarty speak at Mosman Library. I also managed to get her to sign my book and get a picture with her. Such a fan-girl moment! She also told me I had a lovely name! 🙂 I finished Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a book that I enjoyed but which also made me miss Rowling’s writing. Finally, I was invited to watch Absolutely Fabulous by Nuffnang on Wednesday night at Hoyts Luxe which is such an awesome venue!

In spite of that, I’d tell you that generally, I’m feeling like shit. The weather has been crappy too all this week. I am working today which means I kinda don’t get a full weekend. I have plans with friends this arvo for some exercise and then tonight for dinner. I’m hoping to go up the coast tomorrow for a day trip. I need a holiday. A break from my workplace. Or just a change in jobs.

If we were having coffee, I’d most certainly not just be talking about myself. I’d ask how your week has been and tell you to share it with me.

Do share!

Oh man, the week of rain has truly sucked. I have a back up of washing and the boys have been going crazy from being cooped up inside.

Man I miss doing anything after work that didn’t involve kids or guilt about not being home with kids after work

I hope you got your holiday Sanch. You certainly deserve it! I haven’t read The Cursed Child yet. I don’t know if I can! lol I loved how the series ended so I’m reluctant to read the play. Curiosity will probably get the better of me though.

Getting to meet Lianne Moriarty – fun! I love meeting authors. I’ve met Lisa Gardner and Caroline Kepnes and had them autograph books for me. I’ve never taken a picture with them, though. Not sure why. Hoping next week treats you better.

Too bad your work load increased. It is never easy when these happen. Yousound loke you are very busy. Do now while you are young. There comes a time that ordinary pursuits are not easy.

    Hi Sanchi,
Agreed the weather last week was pretty yuck but it did make for an easier week as a few things got cancelled.
I am feeling good this morning because I finally managed to take the dogs for a morning trip to the beach and caught up with my dog walking friends and it was very relaxing being out in the sun at the beach. I love social interaction but have been a bit slack this year and need to be more proactive.
I managed to enter a short story in a competition last week and am really proud of it and myself for just getting a creative piece finished and submitted. I kept having to slash back the word but I wanted it to maintain it’s intensity and be jam packed full of complications, layers as well as complex characters. I can’t post it yet but it’s a psychological mystery/thriller.
Am also enjoying the Olympics. We met Cate Campbell at a charity event and I’ve posted a few photos of my daughter with her London 2012 Gold Medal.
Hope you have a better week and work settles down.

From the sound of it, you really did need those two glasses of wine. Too bad you had to guzzle them and were not able to enjoy them slowly.
