Life has been crazy this past month and I’ve been run off my feet at work. Sleep continues to suffer as to other essential self-care routines in my life. Yet, I notice I’m not as flat as I was some months ago. In fact, I’m not even as flat as I was last month. Things are brewing but I can’t write about it yet. In the mean time though, I’m finding things that make me smile.
Later sunsets: I am enjoying leaving work at 5 p.m. with blue skies still in sight. It’s so nice not leaving work in the dark especially as I leave home in the dark!
Camping trips: I went camping last weekend and it was the most spectacular weekend ever. We had to change plans a few days before and the new campsite at Meroo Head was amazing! I loved being out in nature and feeling truly relaxed.
Watching the sunrise: Our campsite was a few hundred metres by the beach and we woke up early on Sunday morning to catch the sunrise. Words cannot describe how beautiful and serene it was. Waking up in the cold at 6 a.m. on a Sunday was so worth it!
Upcoming weekend away: Next Friday, I’ll be heading up to the Hunter Valley after work with two other friends and their partners for a weekend away. We are going for another friend’s wedding and it’s a nice chance to also explore the area. So excited!
Chatting with people: I am loving talking to strangers. It’s weird as it was something I avoided for many years. Now, I’ll talk to anyone willing to listen. Not about myself necessarily but just stuff. Like the morning we were headed camping and had stopped for a coffee, I began to chat with the lady behind me in the line. Turns out she was on her way to house inspections. Wonder if she found a good one! 🙂
My ideas: My brain is rolling with ideas for stories and articles and posts. I jot them all down but the problem is, I haven’t had the energy to actually write anything. So so tired!
The future: While I am generally anxious about the future, there are things I’m looking forward to in spite of all that anxiety. And well, you can’t help but smile and feel hopeful.
My cats: Always. They just have to be themselves and it’s enough to make me smile.
Connecting: I’ve organised a hike this coming weekend and to my immense pleasure, a couple of my colleagues who I have befriended are also coming. It’ll be nice seeing them in a non-work, non-pub environment. They are lovely ladies I’ve felt a good connection with.
