The Write Life

The life of a writer is an interesting one
In her head is a story constantly being spun

She’ll carry a notebook, a journal and a phone
To scribble ideas in crowds or when alone

She’s always on the lookout for new material
The darkest topics or beauty that’s ethereal

She’ll listen carefully to all you have to say
Figuring how to use it in a story one day

She’ll chat with strangers and eavesdrop on you
Varied lives might give her an idea or two

She looks at the world through multiple views
Good or bad, she’ll pick up all the cues

She experiences pain deep within her core
It makes her write stories others will adore

When she feels joy and fulfilled in her life
Happiness cuts through her work like a sharp knife

When she’s able to write the perfect word
Her heart does a dance, knowing she’s a nerd

She can bring to life people we all know
By using imagination, she can make a story grow

She lives in two worlds, outer and inner
Both so fantastic, she feels like a winner

If you know a writer, you are surely in luck
They are quirky and smart, and can get you unstuck

If you know a writer, don’t stab ‘em in the back
Or in their next story, you’ll surely cop some flak

True, Sanch. Today I was at the hospital. After sending a message to my husband I put the phone back in the bag and kept watching the others and kept imagining about each of them. Even when we don’t write, we write, don’t we? 🙂

Aww thanks Amy! It’s weird…I don’t read much poetry but I do enjoy writing it. Reason why I’ll never be a published author! 😛
