The Month That Was

The month that was June 2016

Another month down, another month closer to the end of the year. In case you were wondering, for some reason I’m counting down. Especially now there’s only one long weekend until the end of the year.

After an unproductive May in terms of writing, I picked up my game in June. Not only that, I participated in the FMS photo-a-day challenge and actually successfully completed it this month! I’d started a few times this year but somehow never got past the first ten days or so. I remember doing it properly some years ago and got a lot of enjoyment out of it. In case you want to follow my journey, you can check out my pics on Instagram.

June started off quite well — having a long weekend certainly helped! Mr Imperfect and I had a weekend away just before the long weekend. Unfortunately, we were hit with rain throughout that weekend in the mountains and ended up staying indoors. Still, it was nice to get away. I also went to two concerts in June — the Living End at the Enmore Theatre and Karnivool at Waves Nightclub. Both concerts were superb. I’m partial to Karnivool only because I stood in the mosh right up at the front! Always a great venue. Early in June, I also shared two new tattoos I got. I’m still quite excited by them!

As part of the Friday Reflections link up which I host with Write Tribe, I mused about where I would run away to or better yet, what I would do if I had magical powers. There was also the deep and meaningful stuff about me sharing my Not-Good-Enough story. I know enough to realise most of us have our own not-good-enough stories and I’d love to hear yours sometime. It is one of the things I freak out about. Finally, I also mused about truth and how realistic is it to always tell the truth.

Winter seems to have hit us with a bang and I for one, am not a fan. In fact, it’s made it harder to get to the gym in the mornings and I’ve been sick for almost three weeks since late May. I’m only just starting to feel a lot better! I can’t wait for spring but I know we have two more months of this to endure.

I continued to read a lot in June and need to review three awesome books I read. I’m totally falling behind! I did review a book I’d read in May though. I’m looking forward to starting Erin’s Reading Challenge from tomorrow. Exciting times ahead!

Finally, I’ve really enjoyed the Weekend Coffee Share posts on a Saturday. I love the personal and almost whimsical nature of there posts. I’m hoping I can keep them going through the year. I ended the month writing a post to get to know me better. Go ahead and check it out! All in a bit of fun…

I met Ashleigh again this month as she hosted a fundraiser for CanToo. A group of us were fortunate enough to spend an afternoon doing yoga, eating some healthy goodies and just having a chat. I got to meet her Ginger Hunk and some other cat ladies

The last week though has been a bit of a funk. I’m not sure if it’s the cold which has prevented exercise or if it’s just me wanting a change of sorts and not seeing an opening but oh well. I’ll keep plodding along. On a slightly separate note, I wrote on my writing blog a couple of times this month. You should check it out and shower it with some love!

How was June for you? Any interesting tidbits in life or on your blog?

Are you over this winter weather if you’re in Australia?

Do share!

If you’ve written a post reflecting on the month gone by, do join in on The Month that Was link up. It’ll be open for eight days this time. Spread the love!

***Also linking up with Grace for FYBF***

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

I must reflect. My month was good in equal parts. Bali amazing. Coming back, not so much. Is it wrong that I have discovered that I can take Long Service Leave next year? A month?? And at half pay two months? Wohoo. I am already driving Ginger Hunk crazy with dreams. We must meet up and dream.

Sorry to know you are still not keeping well. Winters can be a bummer for walks and health. I wish you stay fit.
My June was okay – I was sick too but 4 days and then I started feeling better. Work has been going up so everything is hard. It’s been raining in Bangalore and I am loving it 🙂
A year ago I first read Weekend Coffee Share posts but I was alway whammy of what all do I reveal. My posts are mostly personal and I feel my life is out there. Though I love the format and reading many, I am skeptical of writing my own. You have a good July, Sanch.

Yes I am SO over Winter. I’ve been so smug in previous years “oh I love winter” but then we moved house and left our beloved wood fire behind and now I’m not loving so much. Didn’t realised how much warmth they pumped out. Bring on Spring time! Bring it on quick!

I love winter, though it’s fairly mild here in Queensland. It was one of the things I loved about living in Canberra – the weather (well, not the fog).

June’s been mixed for me. Some big changes personally but a lot of commitments and I feel as if I’m behind in EVERYTHING.

It’s been so cold and I had a lovely 4 days on Sunshine Coast in Q and loved it. T shirts and sunshine.
I love never ending wood supply for the fire keeping me warm. The cold doesn’t seem so bad inside.

I love your weekend coffee share posts! Argh, I can’t believe I missed the CanToo thing, I really wanted to go. Secretly, I love winter, and getting rugged up in my beanies. Plus at night, it’s the perfect excuse to wear flanelette PJs and drink red wine 🙂

Winter hasn’t been too bad here yet. The winds haven’t arrived yet though so I’m kind of just enjoying a chill before it gets unbearable.

I just had a quick peek at your new tatoos! They look great! Sounds like you had a very busy and productive June. That’s pretty great considering how cold it is!
