Out and About

Travel Tales: Toronto and Niagara Falls

For the parts of my trip when I wasn’t travelling to San Francisco, NYC, Quebec City or Montreal, I was based in Toronto. My sister has been living here for the past three years while my uncle and his family have been here for almost 10. From our base, we did a couple of day trips to Blue Mountain Village and to Niagara Falls.

In terms of sightseeing around Toronto itself, the main highlights are probably the CN Tower from where you get to see a 360 degree view of the entire city. Honestly, after doing this in most places I visited, I’m keen to go up Sydney Tower {which I haven’t been to even once in my 10 years!}. Other places look good but you’ve got to admit that Sydney would look awesome.

Anyway, I digress.

Apart from the CN Tower, my sister showed me around Downtown Toronto which is pretty similar to most cities with it’s shopping malls and an area somewhere central which attracts activities and concerts. Here it’s Yonge-Dundas Square. We were there on a weekday morning so there really wasn’t much on.

My favourite trip in Toronto was to Toronto Island. You catch the ferry from the harbourfront to the island and can walk around the entire island enjoying parks, the beach, fun rides for kids, food and a whole lot of greenery.

One of my highlights during the stay in Toronto was the day trip to visit the Niagara Falls. To say the falls were spectacular is an understatement. The Canadian falls are a lot more powerful and amazing compared to the American ones. We also got on a boat tour that takes you close to both the falls letting you experience the magic from close up front. It was awesome. If you ever visit Canada or are even stopping over for a few days, Niagara is a must! {Apart from Quebec City, of course}. I might let some pictures try and express what I want to say but I don’t think even they do justice to the real thing.

So that’s been most of my adventures so far. I’m currently in Vancouver with my sister for the final leg of my trip. I’m excited about the Rockies trip and the trip to Whistler.

And then, I think I am more thanย ready to come back home.

I agree. Pictures can’t do justice to the majestic beauty that is Niagara. I loved it there, and plan to go back soon. Lovely clicks, Sanch. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have been reading about your US/Canada trip. I have never been to Canada, so it was fun reading about these places. Even you did not like NY! I can never live in a city like NY myself. It is a good place to visit though, especially during Christmas and New Year. I have visited during different times of the year, but Christmas was lovely there. For some reason, I felt Niagara did not do much justice to all the hype. Probably I had a different picture of the falls in my mind. But I loved the boat ride to horseshoe falls.
