Kitty Kapers

Home again

So I’m back home again. I returned today — late this afternoon to be precise — after almost 20 days away. It’s good to be back. It’s especially good to see my cats again. I think they were happy to see me. Buttons hung around JK and me the entire evening and came up for cuddles. Pebbles has been friendly and affectionate in her own way. I missed them! My previous housemate Z looked after the cats and the house from the 1st till last night and did a great job. I’m so grateful!

It’s nice to come home even though I had a great time away. I really missed my familiar surroundings and the feeling of home. I missed cooking healthy meals and hitting the gym. I missed just having the telly on in the background while I type away on the computer. So while it was a good time away for most part, it’s also good to be back home again.

The only thing I’m not so happy about is Sydney traffic. It hasn’t changed. I could feel the stress levels rise even though it was JK driving my from my friend’s place. I think after driving around Hobart and regional areas, it makes me realise just how bloody crazy city driving is.

I have one more day off tomorrow and I can’t wait to start it by hitting the gym. And then, the routine starts from mid-week. Back to work. Sigh.

Oh well, I’m home again. And blogging.

Do you start to miss home when you are away?

What draws you back home again?

Do share!

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

Oh yes I miss home even if I go to my mum’s place. I like the comfort of getting back of having things the way I like them – my bed, my ancient self-shutting down desktop, the view from my balcony.. all of it. Good to hear you’re happy to be back.

As much as it is nice to be away in different surroundings, I do love to come home to my creature comforts.
Tasmania is a world away from Sydney traffic! Such a beautiful spot. Even the city is laid back 🙂

Have just been in the city for the last couple of days and as I headed south towards the country I began to feel the tension on the steering wheel lessen. I agree with you city driving is crazy. I find the hardest bit is the tail gaters. Nothing better than getting home and closing the door and settling into the familiar surrounds.

Love your kitty photos. They’re adorable! I know what you mean about missing home and appreciating being back. The hubs and I went to Cuba in November and as much as I enjoyed getting away from winter and enjoying the beach and not having to cook and clean, it was nice to get back to the familiar again. I missed my cats, too and it made me appreciate home more. I didn’t miss the traffic though. I’m with you there. I imagine Sydney is worse than Ottawa, being so much bigger. I don’t like driving in cities. Ottawa isn’t as big as Toronto or Montreal and I’m still not that fond of driving there but I do it. Part of modern day life, right?

Welcome back! Don’t let the traffic get to you; no matter which city, no matter which part of the world, traffic never gets better.. so best let it not get to you.

Isn’t it funny how we hang for going on holiday, and while we have a great time, there is always that feeling in the back of your head that you can’t wait to get home to your own bed and your own space where you can just ‘be’. Welcome back and Happy New Year!
