Life

A Good Week

Just like that, I am done with one semester of university. It feels like it was just yesterday that I was worried about starting uni after a break of almost 7 years. I am so glad I decided to study part-time because even with two subjects, it was full on. Sure, it’s only 13 weeks of uni but add that with a full-time job, a boyfriend, a social life, hiking and exercise, it becomes a crazy, crazy life. But I survived. Sure, I took the last week and a bit off work to complete two short stories and an essay but it worked out really well. I still have to edit my final short story and hand it by Tuesday but that’s easier than writing a whole story.

Making friends wasn’t as scary as I’d thought — I ended up getting along quite well with a girl K in both my classes and a couple of guys in the same classes. The three of them are actually quite funny and kept me amused. And they are amazing writers. What sucks though is we may be doing different subjects next semester which means I won’t see them as often.

This past week has been interesting though. I have loved not having to go to work and just wake up early in the morning, hit the gym, come home and start on writing my stories {The essay was a bitch but I got that done on Monday!} And then, I spent yesterday at the beach editing one of my stories. I honestly started thinking that I could get used to this — not rushing in traffic, not stressing out, enjoying the beach, catching up with JK after he was done with work, and well, writing. Now if only I could get paid the same amount I currently get for doing this, it’d be great!

The more I think about it though, the more I realise that an ideal lifestyle would be to work as a psychologist part-time {and preferably closer to home than the 45 to 60 minute drive I currently have} and to write the other time. Of course, given my mortgage, I’d have to make sure I still get a similar pay. Unless somehow, we win the lotto. πŸ™‚

I go back to work on Monday but in the mean time, I plan on making the most of these three days. In addition to cleaning my house {which looks like a bomb hit it} and finishing off editing the story, I am off to get a massage today and hoping to hit the beach each day. It’s been a good week off.

Life can’t get better than this.

What’s your ideal lifestyle?Β

Do share!

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

My ideal lifestyle is that pic of the beach! I love the coast but we’d never afford it so we made a treechange instead. It’s gorgeous, but so far away from the coast.

It’s almost like you function on adrenalin, isn’t it? I have no idea how I have managed it! My sleep probably copped it the most…

Ah, sigh, that sounds like such a great week. Perfect balance of doing useful stuff and just chilling.

I need a break from my routine, so very bad!!
