A to Z Challenge Life lessons

Z is for Zzzz #atozchallenge

Can you believe this is the final post of the challenge? It’s been a hell of a month! It has been a total blur. I started out with high hopes of reading posts daily and responding to comments but life got in the way and well, I have lagged behind dramatically. It looks like the next few months will be spent visiting other blogs in this challenge and replying to comments on mine.

While I was all about living life in this challenge, this final post is about one thing essential to our lives in order to make all the other things work. Sleep.

I have been lacking sleep in the past month or so. Blogging and socialising are two things in particular that interfere with my sleep patterns. I love both. But I need to balance enough to make sure I go to bed at a reasonable hour given that I wake up early as well to exercise. It’s hard to give in to sleep on some nights when there are so many other enjoyable things to do. But I need to remind myself of this:

sleep

I need sleep because only then will I be more effective. I need sleep because only then will I function better. I need sleep because only then will the creative juices flow. I need sleep because it will make me more likely to explore and be better at socialising.

I need sleep to live.

    As I read this post, I felt like I was talking to myself! My sentiments exactly on everything – sleep deprivation, balancing life and blogging …you nailed it.
    I’m with you on the lagging behind bits too – May and June will be spent in catching up on all the posts I’ve missed and apologising to all the people I haven’t responded to.

    I like how you end the post with a question, and what a wonderful question you have today – “What is your relationship with sleep?” I would say, I have a very loving relationship with sleep. I love sleep, and most of the nights, sleep loves me back πŸ™‚ And on weekends, I love sleep even more during the day…and the lovemaking continues sometimes for 2 to 3 hours on a good Sunday afternoon πŸ™‚

    Without sleep I am like a zombie. I need my decent dose of sleep before I can function normally. Else, its hell. For me and others.

    Oh I love my sleep. 8 hours at night and if I can squeeze in a siesta life’s good. Mercifully I can sleep almost any time of the day so am pretty good. I’ve enjoyed your posts through the month. I hope to catch up in the ones I’ve missed. See you at WT’s weekly prompts.

    Oh gosh I sleep for 8 to 10 hours minimum. If I dont get a good sleep I get really cranky !

    I hear you! A good night’s sleep is so important, and I’ve really been missing it due to all the roadwork going on in front of our house! I can’t wait until they’re gone and I can really catch up on my rest.

    Congratulations on finishing the challenge! I didn’t try it this time because I was trekking in the Himalaya. Now that I’m back home I’m also sleeping over 12 hours a day to overcome the muscle fatigue of 11 days of hard trekking. Never knew I could sleep so much.

    I love to sleep… and need my share of complete 8 hours… any less and I would be groggy and miserable. These days I am finding it so hard to get up early. The warm blanket seems like heaven. But I am not as strong willed as you, I sleep at into the night… can’t control my urge to surf and watch videos.
