My new baby

I brought home my new baby on Friday but never had the chance to share the news with you all due to going away camping on the weekend. Some of you may have heard the news via Instagram. But for those who don’t follow me there or on Facebook, here she is:

You see, after the accident, I had my old car assessed and was told they could fix it but it would take at least 2 weeks. And I wasn’t guaranteed a hire car. Which meant I’d have to hire one for $40 a day. Because I need a car — for work, for socialising, for the gym. And I’m not exaggerating when I say I need one! Pubic transport is not the best in the burbs. My registration for the Holden was also due in October and prior to that, I had to get is serviced and inspected as it was 13 years old. And it had been making funny noises for a while. All this for a car valued at $3000.

So I rang the bank and discussed withdrawing a certain amount from my home loan as I have money to redraw. Not one I wanted to dip into so soon but I figured it had to happen some day. They told me my repayments wouldn’t change. And consequently, I did my research on cars within a certain budget {I narrowed it down to the Mazda 2, Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20 in case you were wondering}. I made a few calls to Mazda dealerships. Went to one during my lunch break the week before last. Negotiated a decent deal. And signed a contract.

And I picked up this baby on Friday. I would have loved a red coloured one but given that I was looking at a deal and got a demo model, I couldn’t be that picky about colours. She drives well and I took her up to the mountains on the weekend. I’m extra extra cautious with her as my Holden had suffered through a number of scratches thanks to yours truly.

A says the car suits my personality. Apparently being small and yet being a pocket-rocket is the thing! 😛

Anyway, all she needs is a name.
