I spend most time
Lending an ear
To friends and family
And others I hold dear
To clients each day
With problems galore
Empathising with each
And giving so much more
At the end of the day
I feel utterly drained
Because you see
I have my own pains
Worries and fears
And the odd low mood
Feeling that I
Can’t be understood
If only I had
Someone occasionally
To be there and importantly,
To actually listen to me

Until next time,

Maybe on some level u fell unworthy and therefore cant share with others. I know I do or that u r somehow the carer of others nothing more

The writing’s beautiful. Being a psychologist, listening to other people’s problems all day, must be really taxing! Sometimes, you just need some “me-time” and a good break away from the whole daily routine. We’re here for you, if you want a virtual shoulder and a virtual ear 🙂

I’m not a pyschologist, but this is my story. Sometimes listening to everyone else’s woes and being there for friends always, can be draining. And there are times you wish that at least some friend reciprocated empathy.
But thankfully I’ve got the husband, who’ll lend a patient ear to me, at the end of the day. Feels really nice.
Sending you lot of good wishes, so that you find a soulmate who will listen, soon!

Uh, uh, your poem just described. I feel sometimes people only hear what I say but never really listen me.
