With the Anzac Day public holiday on Thursday, I decided to take my ADO on the Friday to extend my weekend. Unfortunately, I still had to work on Saturday at my other job but I’m not really complaining as I do need the money. Thursday and Friday were days for me to relax after having been pretty busy and stressed out the weeks before. I finally caught up on house work and cleaned my place on Thursday. And spent time with my kitties. And read. And blogged. And bought my groceries. The mundane stuff.
Sunday ended up being one of the best days of the weekend. Originally I was supposed to be going up to the Central Coast with the bushwalking group for a walk. However, on Friday, we received an email from the organiser saying that the circuit we’d planned to do on Sunday was closed due to soil erosion and the walk was therefore cancelled. So that was a bit of a bummer. The English Guy suggested we play it by ear on Sunday and I figured worst-case scenario, I’d go out to the beach by myself for a walk. Sunday morning at 9, The English Guy rang and asked if I wanted to go to the Blue Mountains. You know, be spontaneous and all that. I agreed. And met him an hour later.
We drove up to the mountains and did what was supposed to be a hard 3 to 4 hour walk at Wentworth Falls. Except we finished it in 90 minutes and then took another route and still finished everything in a couple of hours. No, we didn’t run it. We still stopped and took it all in. I just couldn’t believe I hadn’t been to the Blue Mountains since my first year here. Back in 2005. There is something absolutely spectacular about it. I love my coastal walks but the mountains are splendid in their own way. The photos probably won’t do them justice.
After the walk we had some dinner at Katoomba and then headed back to Sydney. In atrocious traffic thanks to roadworks. Got back by around 7:30 p.m. after a wonderful day. Can I just say I’m loving being spontaneous. And there is no anxiety whatsoever attached to it all. There was something about yesterday and the week gone by that has made me think that I need to re-evaluate my priorities in life. Which I think I am going to sit down and do.
Life is too short to worry and spend doing routine things in the city. I think I need to travel a bit more. Do some more amazing walks within and outside of Australia.
Like I said, time to re-evaluate my priorities.
We live only once after all.
Until next time,
