White Ribbon Day: Stop Violence against Women

It’s time to swear. Time to take an oath. To put an end to violence against women.

While 25th November is White Ribbon Day, it’s time we all stood up together {both men and women} to end violence against women for the other 364 days of the year as well. We constantly hear about women being abused, being intimidated and threatened, being raped and even murdered.

For all this to end, the mentality of people needs to change. We need to work together. Men who perpetrate violence against women need to learn that violence is not the answer. Saying you are ‘provoked‘ is not an excuse {unless she is running at you with a knife!}. If we notice a woman being abused, we need to stand up to the perpetrator. And most importantly, we need to learn to stop blaming the victim.

It might take a while. But I can hope that some day this mentality will change. And that as a society, we will respect women more.

Check out the White Ribbon Day website for details about events running in your area. And join in if you can.

I know I am. And I’m giving up a perfect beach day for it too.

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

it makes me heartsick to hear of the abuses against women and children in this country and atrocities around the world. at least in this country we have a chance of doing something about it with the laws we have against domestic violence, child abuse, etc. in so many countries there either are no laws or they go against women.

good for you for getting involved!
