Happy at your achievement
Sad at what it means
While you advance in your career
Miles away from me
I am thrilled at what you’ll gain
And all the skills you’ll learn
Living in a brand new country
In a field that you’ve yearned
And while you go ahead in life
Your friendship I will miss
I’ll miss those calls of reassurance
Those texts about things amiss
I’ll miss our cups of coffee
Of meeting up in the city
Going window shopping
And the movies and the eats
Your easy-going nature will be missed
As will your honesty
I won’t be hearing your forthrightness
And shared ideas on things
So while I’m happy at what you’ll gain
I know you will understand
The loss of your proximity to me
Is going to hurt really bad

Until next time,

Nicely written. I can understand the pain of separation however small it might be.
