Book Depository – Simply Amazing

First and foremost, this post is about my experience and my opinion entirely. I have not been paid in any way to promote Book Depository. I’ve been buying from them for well over a year now. The books are cheap. And the delivery is free. All the way from the UK. Anyway, I had a recent experience with them that made me want to have a specific post about them on this blog.

I had ordered Jodi Picoult and her daughter’s latest book, Between the Lines on the sometime last month. The book was in stock when I ordered. And then suddenly, a few days later, it wasn’t. But my status still said ‘processing’. I thought I’d wait it out. It’s happened before and books have come back in stock. However, two weeks later, there was still no sign and I noticed there was another paperback version available but apparently not the one I purchased. So I emailed them inquiring what had happened.

About a day or so later, I received an email apologising for the delay. Apparently something was wrong with their system and some orders got stuck and ‘lost’ at the processing stage. The book I had ordered was no longer in stock. But, because it had been that long, they would refund my money. And that’s not all. They would also send me the hardback copy which was in stock as a complimentary one for delaying the order initially! And today, I received it!

I am so excited! I can finally read this!

Even had a with compliments note!

It’s a beautiful looking book. And heavy! 🙂

Anyway, if you live in one of the countries The Book Depository delivers to, I’d highly recommend choosing them. Not just for good prices but also for good customer service. Which in my opinion is far more important.

    And it is a lovely book, I finisshed reading it yesterday. Nothing like Jodi’s usual work simply because it is co authored by her daughter 🙂

    Yay! Glad you had a nice experience. I’ve ordered clothes from Asos, also situated in UK & they too had excellent customer service.

      Hmm…going to look into ASOS although clothes shopping online is not the best given my size. But it’s great when customer service is like this…makes you want to keep buying from them!!

      I agree Charleen. And what’s even better is that technically, I have never had any face to face contact with them and yet they were so helpful. Given that it’s online, it’s a lot easier to not care about customer service but so nice to see it’s not the case here…

      🙂 Have you ever bought from them? You should try them if books are cheaper. Here in Aus books are so damn expensive that as much as I want to support local book stores, I kinda have to think about my own wallet too.
