Arrived at Brissy at noon and were picked up at the airport by a family friend.

Had lunch at their place and headed to Mount Cootah for a little while to see views of Brisbane.
|Brisbane in all its glory
|City of Brisbane
Headed back home and then out to the city. Explored the city centre by walking across the bridge towards Southbank over the Brisbane river and taking in the sights. Sis got some good photos as I was too impatient to stand still enough to get non-blurry pictures.

Got back home at about 8 p.m and stayed up late catching up with them.
Woke up around 5 the next morning. Realised that 3 glasses of wine and 5 hours of sleep do not bode well for a day of sightseeing. Headed to the station to catch a train to the Gold Coast. And slept all the way through.
Checked out the main street at Surfer’s Paradise. Enjoyed the sun for a while.
|Seagulls. Always eager for food
Had a good lunch at a cafe.
Headed back for Brisbane by around 2:00 p.m. Slept on the train on the way back too. [How did I ever function through uni on 4 to 5 hours’ sleep??]
Reached Brisbane and explored the city in daylight this time. Checked out Queen Street Mall and King George Square. Headed back with the family friend to their house around 6 after they picked us up at the end of their work day. Had a yum dinner and relaxed. Had only one glass of wine this night. [I learn quickly!]
Went to bed early to get ready to catch a 10:00 a.m. plane the next morning.
Yes, it was a short stay in Brisbane. And it didn’t excite me as much as Cairns had and Melbourne later did. And a headache while checking out Surfer’s probably wasn’t very helpful either. As a result, there aren’t many pictures of Brisbane or the GC.
Stay tuned for the final chapter of the travel tales: Melbourne.
Until next time,
