Image by Duane Michals from here

She looked into the mirror
And all that she could see
A woman looking a lot like her
Yet, unlike the reality

A nose too sharp and too long
Eyes too far apart and all wrong
Lips on her face far too thin
And not a distinguished enough chin
Teeth in the mouth far too crooked
Rolls of fat when seen naked
Blemishes on skin no one else can see
Pudgy arms and knobby knees
Breasts not big enough for her
Sadly though, a much bigger derrière
This she saw in the mirror each day
No amount of surgery made it go away
To the world she used to be quite pretty
Until she caved and had plastic surgery
Suffice to say she now looks freaky
As artificial and plastic as can be
Despite getting whatever she’d yearned
She remains unhappy and with her appearance concerned

If only she’d known that
What the world previously saw
Was a healthy young girl
With no obvious flaw

It is a pity,no amount of pacification helps when someone has a complex about himself/herself.

It is quite sad Indu…who knows how many of the celebs we see getting plastic surgery a zillion times actually suffer from BDD. It’s a never ending saga in this day and age…

Nice lines and in reality, things are really complex and the person involed suffers a lot.

Welcome here Leo! Thanks and yes, I agree the reality of illnesses such as BDD are a whole lot worse! The internal suffering and unhappiness is not even remotely described here…
